Naval Architects specialise in warship and submarine construction. A Naval Architect is involved in design, quality control, repair and construction of Naval vessels. In no other career, an Architecture Officer gets exposed to such wide developments. The Naval Architecture Cadre offers excellent opportunities to keep abreast of advancements in ship-building technology.
As an officer in the Naval Architect Cadre, your assigned duties would encompass a wide spectrum, including design of warships and submarines, overseeing of construction at various shipyards, platform trials at sea, appointment onboard warships as well as refit and operational support for ships and submarines, including dry docking. Also, there is anenriching exposure to current and future technologies.
Candidates will be inducted as officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant and undergo Naval Orientation Course at the Indian naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala followed by professional training at various Naval Training Establishment /Units/Ships.
Meritorious officers are also selected for M Tech and other courses at reputed institutions, including IITs.
The candidates must possess at least 60% marks in BE/B. Tech Degree from recognised university in any one of the following stream:-
- Mechanical Engineering with Automation
- Naval Architecture
